VERSE AND VIBE

Nuraverse performs her groundbreaking piece “Who Said Black” during Lorgoligi Locomotion and Rhetoric Orchestra’s open mic themed Verse and Vibe.
t was a beautiful night that saw many Ghanaian poets and writers nestled within the cozy confines of Kukun at Osu.
Themes from love, pain, feminism, manhood, race, and other light hearted, well-crafted pieces with several punclines got the audience “oooo’ing” and “awww’ing”.

Who Said Black was inspired by 5-year-old Nurah, who performed a poem titled “Black is Beautiful” during her speech and prize giving day. It explores themes of race, pride, and identity, and questions the listener from start to finish.

Nuraverse accompanied that performance with a shorter poem titled “If love is a disease”

This piece focuses on a love-struck partner who expresses just how they can’t breathe without their significant other, amongst other sensual things. You just had to be there to hear it!

Trim your nails, and remove your ear wax with cotton buds as you anticipate what this Nuraverse is cooking up next.
